"Kono Bijutsu-bu ni wa Mondai ga Aru!" aka "This Art Club Has a Problem!" is a comedy anime series based on the manga of the same name. I liked the manga better than the anime adaption, not sure why. Maybe because I binged the anime, and it was just the same jokes on repeat, which was too much for me. The plot is simple enough to sum up in one sentence; Usami is a member of an arts club, where no one is taking the club serious except her.
The art club is filled with eccentric individuals, each with their own
unique quirks and artistic interests. The club president is always sleeping, Subaru has an obsession with drawing 2D girls, while Usami has a crush on him. The series centers around the comedic
situations that arise from these characters' idiosyncrasies and their
attempts to create art together. The focus really lies on the character's humorous interactions instead of a plot, I just don't think the jokes always landed. More often than not, I was bored by the end of the episodes, and if you ask me, that's the real problem this art club has.
The animation in the series is fine but not exceptional. Given the art theme of the show, you might expect more visually striking moments. However, the focus here is more on character interactions and comedy than on breathtaking visuals.
"This Art Club Has a Problem!" is a light and enjoyable anime for those
who appreciate comedy and character-driven stories. It doesn't have a
deep or intricate plot, and its humor can be somewhat repetitive due to
the characters' fixed quirks. Still, it's a fun series to watch when
you're in the mood for some light-hearted laughs and a break from more
serious or complex anime.
